Frederic Yves Michel NOEL Markbass Little Mark IV Head

Markbass Little Mark IV Head – Review

The Markbass Little Mark IV is the evolution of the legendary Little Mark III — one of the most loved lightweight bass heads in modern history. Compact, powerful, and extremely musical, the Little Mark IV delivers everything bassists loved about the original while adding even more tonal control and flexibility.

🔊 Sound & Tone

The Little Mark IV captures that unmistakable Markbass sound — warm, clean, and highly responsive to your playing dynamics. It has an incredibly balanced tone that flatters nearly any bass, from vintage P-basses to active modern instruments.

The amp provides 500 watts at 4 ohms (300W at 8 ohms), giving you enough headroom for live gigs while staying clean and punchy. The VLE (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator) and VPF (Variable Pre-shape Filter) remain the heart of the tone-shaping, but the EQ section has been refined for smoother response and greater precision.

⚙️ Features

  • 4-band EQ with enhanced midrange control

  • VLE & VPF filters for quick tonal shaping

  • Mute switch and 3-way mute/line-out switch for silent tuning or direct output

  • XLR DI out for live or recording use

  • FX loop, Tuner Out, and Pre/Post EQ switch

  • Compact and lightweight design (around 6 lbs / 2.8 kg)

  • Optional MIDI and footswitch support on select models

🧳 Portability & Build

Like all Markbass heads, the Little Mark IV is built for the road — solid metal chassis, easy to carry, and simple to set up. Its bright yellow control panel is easy to see on dark stages, and the fan cooling keeps it quiet and reliable.

Verdict

The Little Mark IV continues the legacy of Markbass’s flagship amp. It’s clean, powerful, and flexible — perfect for players who want studio-quality tone in a backpack-sized head. It doesn’t just make your bass louder; it makes it sound better.
